The classic shape of the home creates an easily recognizable unit, and its thoughtful design has been approved by the North American Bluebird Society.
The 1.5" diameter entrance hole allows bluebirds to enter the unit, and a shelf directly beneath this entry on the interior of the box acts as a predator guard. The sloped roof overhangs this entrance, directing rain away from the nest, and gaps on the floor allow any captured water to drain. Ventilation gaps at the top corners of the home aid in regulating the internal temperature, while the western red cedar body creates a durable piece. Remove the top nail on the home to open the side panel, revealing the clear plastic panel which allows you to observe the bluebirds. This plastic piece separates you from the birds, while still enabling thorough nest checks throughout the season. Remove this piece of plastic at the end of the nesting season, to clean and maintain the item. Attach this home to a post, fence, or wall using screws (not included) and the predrilled holes on the back wall. Study bluebird nesting dynamics easily using this View Thru Bluebird House.
